A shot of my San costume (from Princess Mononoke) from the back (my Halloween costume this past year). San's my hero!


Costume details:

--Fur is an actual sheepskin I bought at a Renfair
--Tail is an actual tail, also purchased at Renfair
--White over-shirt and moccasins are hand-sewed deer "skivers" (skin scraps)
--Blue dress is hand-sewed linen
--Mask and spear were modeled in Crayola Model Magic and painted with acrylics; spear base is a tobacco stick (hooray Kentucky!)
--Earrings are bone (purchased online)
--Although I forgot to put it on for the shoot, the necklace was made with Model Magic (for the white, oblong parts) and dark blue glass beads

I had a lot of fun with this; I'm going to try to make the mask in clay next time just for posterity. The fur was also really hard to get to fit just the way I wanted it, but it turned out okay in the end (with a lot of coaxing and loads of safety pins).
